The WHO stated that we lose more than 720,000 people to suicide every year.

In a world where mental health stigma often silences those who need help the most, it’s crucial to shine a light on how we can make a difference. Fostering open, honest conversations on topics surrounding mental health can create a safe space where seeking help is normalised. This simple act can encourage someone to reach out, in times of distress.

Spotting the Signs:

The power of prevention lies in identifying people around you who may seem like they are being overpowered by their own negative thoughts or behaviors, resulting in the act or attempt to self-harm. Subtle changes in behavior, sudden mood swings, or social withdrawal may be more than just a bad day—they could be early signs of distress. By being vigilant and recognizing these risk factors, we can intervene with empathy and support.

Support Systems:

No one should have to face their struggles alone. A strong support system—whether through family, friends, or community groups—can be a lifeline, providing the emotional and psychological support necessary to help someone through their darkest times.

Spreading Awareness:

Knowledge is power. By spreading awareness through education—whether through campaigns, workshops, or everyday conversations—we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. This not only helps those struggling feel less isolated but also encourages them to seek help sooner.

Immediate Help:

In moments of acute distress, having immediate access to help can be lifesaving! Crisis helplines and 24/7 support services are crucial resources that ensure help is always within reach when it’s needed most.

We at Bigyellowfish, are committed to bridging the gap and facilitating around-the-clock support and resources to bridge the gap and create safe spaces, to ensure that help is always accessible when it’s needed most.

Start the conversation. Make a difference.
